My Life Defining Weekend...

I photographed a wedding on Saturday and never thought in a million years I would witness this incredible moment:

The brides parents are both paralyzed and in wheelchairs, unable to walk. Besides physically seeing this you would never have guessed because they were very warm and positive people. At the reception we all know that there is a "Father/Daughter" dance that usually takes place. I'm sure many wondered how this would all happen.

As I got my camera and position ready for this event I watched as her dad wheeled his way up to the dance floor ready to give his daughter the best dance of her life. To my (and everyone elses) surprise he stood up from his wheelchair and swayed with his daughter as the DJ played "Cinderella" from Steve Curtis Chapman. As the song neared end you could tell he looked quite tired and weak so they wheeled his chair over so he could sit back down. His daughter then sat on his lap and snuggled with him for the rest of the song (i'm welling up just writing this). I looked around the room as so many of us wiped the tears from our eyes. This was one of the most incredible and heart-wrenching moments I have ever witnessed in my life.

It's moments like this that really make you value life and become so much more thankful for the blessed lives that we live each day.

So take the time each day to say thanks for what you have been given. I hope I am able to witness so many more beautiful moments like this one. It makes me even more thankful for the profession I have chosen.

peace and love,
Jill

Thank you for sharing your Life Defining Weekend with us. It really make one think about the little things we wine about. And as you said, we are all so blessed in so many ways. We just have to stop and look around us and smell the roses.
I am sure when you decided to go into your profession , you never knew how many lives you would touch. If you just think of all the new babies and newlyweds that you are part of their lives now, thay you may not have been if it were not your decision to go into Photography. You do great work.
And again thanks for sharing the wedding and the pictures. I Will always remember that. And I loved the brides shoes in the last picture... SMILE...ThankS...Keep up the great work ...SUE
