Why i've been MIA!

I had a very crazy and stressful weekend! It mostly started Saturday night. I had a wedding in good ol' South Haven Saturday and decided that because I had to help with my mother and father in law's retirement party that me, my husband, brother and sister and law threw them that I needed to drive back Saturday night. I left about 8:30pm and boy should I have stayed in South Haven! I had the worse drive of my life. I had my baby girl in the backseat and I had a tight grip on my steering wheel. I've never experienced something so stressful in my entire life. I drove through a crazy storm! 2 hours of complete horror. I stopped off at an exit half way through to contain myself. I was shaking and crying and felt completely sick to my stomach.
I finally reached home and was so exhausted but my little girl was wide awake. I had to stay up with her until past midnight and then finally in my own bed.
The next day was the retirement party. Throwing parties are hard work! I was lucky enough to have a wonderful husband and super brother in law that did most of the work but I still woke up early and made a few things as well as get myself and Natalie ready. As I was driving over I noticed that there were huge trees down in our neighborhood from the horrible storm.
We got there and about 1/2 of our RSVP'd guest showed up. 1/2 way through the party the sky clouded over and it began pouring! The sirens went off and we all had to go in the basement. Everything was fine in their neighborhood but all the guests left after that! We had SO much leftover food!
Just before we left the previous Mayor Tony Benevides and his wife Carmen showed up. They live in the neighborhood on the other side from us. They said that a horrible storm went through our side of town and more huge trees were down and the power was out. Sure enough we made it home to no power and even more damage in our neighborhood. It literally looked like a war zone or a tornado went through. We packed up, got back in our cars and drove back over to my mother and father in laws for the night.
Monday afternoon I got back home to power but no cable (meaning no internet). Ugh. I took a walk around the block to get a few pictures:

This is next to our house. Note the street lamp light down on the ground!

A tree down on a jeep down the road!

This is only a small sampling of the damage done around our neighborhood! My husband brought me a little wireless thingy to connect to the internet so I can at least get back to the 100's of e-mails I needed to reply to from the weekend. I'm SO sorry I didn't get back sooner. I've obviously been very busy and VERY stressed! I think i've responded back to everyone. I also want to let you know that I am working SO SO SO hard on everyone's pictures and albums!

I was wondering about your Saturday wedding in South Haven!! Wasn't that weather crazy??? Next time you're on the road between SH and Lansing and need to stop halfway, call me!! We can meet you somewhere or shelter you & Nattie if it's nasty out. :)

We lost a few trees on Sunday and Richland/Gull Lake area looks really messy right now. I *think* most people have their power back but the crews are working hard to clean it up. Thankfully we never lost power ourselves, and nothing fell on our house, but we will have to have those trees removed.

Kaitlyn says hi! She has 1 tooth out and 1 more about to break the surface! Any chompers yet for Nattie?
