I saw this little Q&A on another photographers blog and thought it's a cute idea to let my clients (and anyone else who visits my blog!) get to know me a little better!
1. What is your name?
Jill
2. Where are you from?
I'm originally from South Haven, MI (it's a small tourist town on the west side of Michigan right ON Lake Michigan!) but I live in Lansing now.
3. Is photography your full time job?
It is! Well besides being a full time mommy.
4. How did you get into photography?
I've always been into art and drawing. I've also always been a very creative person. My mind didn't settle on photography until I was planning my wedding in 2002. That is when I decided to buy a film SLR and take some photography classes and fell in love.
5. Did you go to school for photography?
I did! I have a certificate.
6. What do you like the most about shooting weddings?
I'm honestly just wedding obsessed! I love every aspect of weddings. I think my favorite part though would be standing in the background and capturing a beautiful moment when no one thinks I am watching.
7. How long have your been photographing weddings?
It will be 3 years in May!
8. Have you learned a lot over the last 3 years?
Absolutely. Not only about weddings and photography but how if you chase your dreams you can make them come true! I always knew I wanted to be a small business owner as long as I can remember but I never knew what and I always knew it would be a struggle. Fortunately, everything fell into place very easily. No struggle whatsoever.
9. Do you get nervous when you do a wedding?
I really don't! I used to be such a nervous wreck growing up that I think I shaked all of that out as a teenager. I don't know if I've ever been nervous for a wedding. It just comes very natural to me. I do get very excited. I love working with each new couple. You always get a different outcome.
10. What's in your camera bag?
Here is the list:
1 Shootsac
2 canon digital camera bodies
4 lenses
3 backup batteries
1 stroboframe
3 Speedlights
LOTS of AA batteries
2 2GB memory cards and 3 1GB memory cards
1 flash box
1 star filter
2 flash cords
1 package of eclipse mints
Lots of bobby pins
11. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Working in my own loft studio. Still married to my honey with my little Natty and another little one!
12. Are you married?
I am. Jeff and I were married August 23, 2003.
13. Who photographed your wedding?
Christopher Boylan
14. As a bride, what is one piece of advice you would give a new bride?
Shake the little things. As a bride you want everything to be perfect but you will see that you day will be beautiful, no one will miss little things that you think were messed up and at the end of the day you will be married to your best friend! Enjoy your BIG day and have fun!
15. Do you do destination weddings?
That would be fabulous! Any takers? ;)
16. What color is your hair?
Ooooo....my fabulous stylist Ali just did a new do for me today! It's red and blonde with just a little hint of my original hair color-dirty dishwater blonde! haha.
17. What is your favorite drink?
I love a nice cold....diet coke! If we're talking alcohol then i'll take a yummy Newcastle beer anyday.
18. Do you have a favorite TV show?
TOO many. LOST is probably the big one right now. It's SO confusing though!
19. Do you have any kids?
I do! We just had our 1st last September, Natalie June. She's a sweetie pie!
20. What else can you tell us that not many people know about you?
I played in the drum line in high school! I was drum lead for my Jr. and Sr. year. I also learned to play the kit my senior year.
I played golf in high school too. I went on an amateur tour summer before Jr. year. I've also met Tiger Woods! Anyone want to go play a round this summer?
Anyone have any other questions they are dying to ask?! Post it in the comments and i'll answer!

So fun to read! I didn't know you were that good of a golfer! I would have taken you up on a round, but I only made it to regionals in high school! ;-)
Haha. Jen I should specify-I USED to be good. I am TERRIBLE now. It's still fun though. We should go play a round sometime though.
